Character Aliases and Live Parsing Updates
v1.4.4 · April 17, 2026
What's new
The character page now shows every alias associated with a role — all the variant names HitCue has seen for that character across the script. If a name was resolved or merged during character resolution, the aliases appear directly on the detail screen.
The script hub now updates automatically when a script finishes parsing. You no longer need to pull to refresh or navigate away and back — the screen transitions to the parsed layout on its own as soon as processing completes.
Why it matters for your rehearsal
Scripts are inconsistent. "ANNE", "ANNE FRANK", "ANNE F." can all refer to the same role. Once you've resolved those variants, you want to be able to see which names were grouped together — especially if you're coming back to a script weeks later and want to verify the resolution was correct. The alias list makes that visible without re-opening the resolution flow.
Waiting on parsing used to require manual refreshes. For longer scripts — or scripts re-uploaded with revisions — that could mean multiple pulls before the scene list appeared. The live update removes that friction entirely.
How to use it
Character aliases
- Open a script and tap on any character
- Scroll to the Aliases section on the character detail page
- The list shows every variant name that has been resolved to this character
Live parsing updates
- No setup required — the script hub listens automatically when a script is queued or parsing
- When parsing finishes, the screen updates on its own
Also in this update
- Upload limits increased: Free tier now allows 3 scripts per month (was 2); Pro tier now allows 6 (was 5)
- Improved DOCX parsing: speaker labels with trailing separators are now handled correctly and inline formatting is preserved accurately
- Better handling of line breaks when bold or italic text appears mid-sentence in uploaded files
